final performance evaluation
This week we did our final performance of our choreography and I'm really proud of the final piece that we produced. I feel as though the pressure of performing our piece really encouraged us to bring out a depth of emotion and commitment that we hadn't found in previous rehearsals, and I am very pleased with the effort and dedication that each member of the group brought in order to make our piece powerful and impactful for the audience. Although we felt that some of the timing of our piece was more precise in our first run-through, I am really happy with how our group stayed connected with one another to pick up any mistakes and find our unity again. With the growing intensity and passion that I feel our group brought to the piece, I believe that we were successful in showing the liberation and freedom that came with our second individuality section, and this was a harsh contrast to the sharp and regimented opening.
Overall, I have found this to be a challenging but rewarding project and it has been really interesting to work with different people and be inspired by the variety of ideas that they brought. Furthermore, it has been extremely beneficial to open myself up to new ways of working, and exploring a variety of formations and techniques to create unique patterns and shapes with multiple people on stage. At times, I found time management, making final decisions and being able to freely experiment ideas without worrying how it looks or taking a long time a struggle throughout the course. However, I feel as though this experience has helped me find my confidence in being someone to speak up and help organise and suggest ideas and so I'm really proud of the contributions I made in the group. If I were to do this again, I think I would have a more clear idea of defining sections within my piece, as although we had two obvious sections, for a piece of choreography this length, I found this to be too broad and personally would feel more inspired and focused with multiple defined elements to work on. On the other hand, I would definitely use the methods for choreographing that we learnt again, such as the chance method and translation task, as I found this to be effective in creating unique and meaningful choreography at an impressive pace, whilst maintaining a close connection to our stimulus of conformity.
Thank you for great information, keep posting.
